Consilia Legal Directors and founders of the firm, Laura Clapton and Marie Walsh share their experience of launching the firm, their key values and the philosophy of the practice.

Our Name – What does consilia mean?

We worked together as colleagues for a number of years before launching Consilia Legal in 2014. At Consilia Legal, our team share a mission – to work with our clients to best achieve their goals. How do we do that? By providing pragmatic, creative and commercially sound advice to suit each individual client’s budget. This is the reason we chose the name “Consilia” which means working together in Latin. We believe Consilia represents who we are and our relationship with our clients.

Marie Walsh – Director, Employment Solicitor & Workplace Mediator.

Employment director, Marie Walsh advises a range of businesses, their directors and shareholders on all aspects of HR and employment law issues. Marie believes that “our loyal clients appreciate a down to earth and straight talking practical approach to the law and business strategy. My principal aim is to provide practical employment law advice to suit the individual and commercial needs of my clients in a timely and efficient manner.” Marie is supported by associate employment solicitor Victoria Horner who is a highly experienced solicitor who has worked with Marie for a number of years and employment solicitor Andy Boyde who is recognised by the Legal 500 (2017) as a “next-generation lawyer”.

Laura Clapton – Director, Family Solicitor & Family Mediator.

Director Laura Clapton is head of the family law and mediation department and advises individuals on all aspects of relationship breakdown including divorce proceedings, property and finances and child-related issues. She also advises on future planning including pre & post-nuptial agreements. Laura Clapton says “Our aim is always to achieve the best outcome for our clients whilst ensuring that the process is as stress-free and cost-effective as possible in often difficult family circumstances. We believe our clients feel completely safe and assured in our hands.” Laura is supported by Kelly Walters Senior Associate Family Solicitor.
