In this first “Getting to Know” we talk to Andy Boyde from our Employment Law Team here at Consilia Legal.
Andy is a former professional rugby player, Legal Director and Employment Law Solicitor. He specialises in advising individuals, owner-managed businesses and SMEs and has particular expertise in the sports sector.
Q: How many years of experience do you have in the legal sector?
I qualified in 2015, so I have 9 years post qualification experience (PQE).
Q: What has your career journey looked like so far?
I started out as a part-time Paralegal and then progressed to become a Trainee Solicitor, Assistant Solicitor, Associate Solicitor and now I am a Senior Associate Solicitor and Legal Director.
Q: Describe your day-to-day role
I am a specialist employment solicitor within the team at Consilia acting for both individuals and company clients in contentious and non-contentious matters.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy resolving conflict situations for both employers and employees.
Q: What do you find most challenging about your role?
It can prove challenging to advise an individual, who feels wronged, that they don’t actually have a viable employment tribunal claim, such as someone seeking an unfair dismissal claim when they don’t have the requisite two years’ service to bring such a claim.
Q: What piece of advice would you give someone looking for an employment lawyer?
You need to make sure that your choice of employment lawyer aligns with your own values so they can achieve the best outcome for you.
